Matt Hawkins

Matt is a proven executive who is passionate about software’s ability to transform healthcare.

As the CEO who formed Waystar in 2017, Matt led the $2.7B sale of Waystar to EQT and CPPIB in 2019, and Waystar’s initial public offering (IPO) on NASDAQ in 2024. He has helped identify and architect several healthcare-technology-related investments.

Previously, he was President of Sunquest Information Systems, where he led several key growth acquisitions and guided the company’s transformation into a global leader in laboratory diagnostic informatics. Prior to that, Matt was with Vista Equity Partners, where he served as President & Board Member of Greenway Health, CEO & Board Member of Vitera Healthcare Solutions, and CEO & Board Member of SirsiDynix. Earlier in his career, he was a management consultant at McKinsey & Company.

Several industry and business publications have acknowledged Matt’s leadership, including Becker’s Hospital Review’s Great Healthcare Leaders to Know, Healthcare IT News’ H.I.T. Men & Women of the Year and Utah Business Magazine’s Forty Under 40. Healthcare Technology Report named Matt as one of the Top 50 Healthcare CEOs. Matt received his BS from Brigham Young University and his MBA from Harvard Business School. He is deeply committed to volunteer service.
